SMS and Text Messaging Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2025
This SMS and Text Messaging Policy ("SMS Policy") describes how Speakyboo, Inc. ("Speakyboo," "we," "us," or "our") sends text messages to users of our voice dictation and AI transcription platform available at speakyboo.com (the "Service"). By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages from Speakyboo, you agree to the terms of this SMS Policy.
Speakyboo's text messaging program is strictly transactional. We do not send promotional or marketing messages via SMS. Every message we send serves a functional purpose directly related to your account or subscription.
1. Program Description
Speakyboo operates a transactional SMS program to support account security, billing, and service continuity. The types of messages you may receive include:
- Magic Link Authentication: When you log in using our passwordless magic link system, we may send a one-time access link or verification code to your registered mobile number to confirm your identity.
- Billing and Payment Alerts: We may send notifications when a payment is processed, when a subscription renews, when a payment method fails, or when your billing information requires attention.
- Account Security Notifications: If we detect unusual account activity, an unauthorized login attempt, or a change to your account credentials, we may send a security alert to your mobile number.
- Service Outage or Maintenance Notices: In the event of a material service disruption or scheduled maintenance that significantly impacts your ability to use Speakyboo, we may send a brief notification.
- Subscription Status Updates: Notifications about trial expirations, plan upgrades, downgrades, or cancellations that you initiated or that require your attention.
We will never use our SMS program to send marketing messages, promotional offers, product announcements, newsletters, or any message designed primarily to drive commercial engagement rather than to serve a direct transactional or security function.
2. How to Opt In
You may opt in to receive SMS messages from Speakyboo through the following methods:
- During Account Creation: When you create a Speakyboo account, you may optionally provide your mobile phone number. By entering your number and proceeding, you consent to receive transactional SMS messages as described in this policy.
- During Checkout: When subscribing to a Pro ($20/month) or Max ($100/month) plan, you may provide your mobile number as part of the checkout flow. Providing your number constitutes opt-in consent for transactional billing and account-related messages.
- In Account Settings: You may add or update your mobile number at any time from your account settings page, and doing so constitutes consent to receive SMS messages of the types described herein.
Providing a mobile phone number is entirely optional. Speakyboo's core transcription service is fully accessible without a mobile number. If you do not provide a number, you will receive account and billing notifications by email only.
By opting in, you represent and warrant that you are the account holder or authorized user of the mobile phone number you provide, that the mobile device is capable of receiving SMS messages, and that you are 18 years of age or older. If you are providing a number on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to consent on the organization's behalf.
3. How to Opt Out
You may withdraw your consent to receive SMS messages from Speakyboo at any time using any of the following methods:
- Reply STOP: Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any text message you receive from us. Upon receipt of your opt-out request, we will send you a final confirmation message and then cease sending you SMS messages.
- Account Settings: Log in to your Speakyboo account and navigate to Settings. Under Notifications, you may remove your mobile number or disable SMS notifications.
- Contact Support: Email us at support@speakyboo.com or privacy@speakyboo.com and request removal from our SMS program. We will process your request within 3 business days.
Opting out of SMS messages will not affect your ability to use the Speakyboo Service. You will continue to receive account and billing notifications by email. Opting out of SMS does not constitute a request to delete your account or your personal data.
After you opt out, if you later add a phone number to your account again, this will be treated as a new opt-in and you will once again be enrolled in transactional SMS notifications.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency is low and strictly transactional. Because we only send messages in direct response to account events — such as a login attempt, a billing event, or a security alert — the number of messages you receive will vary depending on your account activity. Most users receive fewer than 4 messages per month. You will not receive scheduled, recurring, or unsolicited messages on a set cadence.
You will not receive any messages unless a relevant account or billing event occurs that warrants a notification. We do not send "check-in" messages, engagement reminders, or messages designed to encourage platform usage.
5. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply to all text messages sent or received in connection with the Speakyboo SMS program. These rates are determined by your mobile carrier and are governed by your wireless service plan. Speakyboo does not charge you any fee for sending or receiving SMS messages through our program. However, your carrier may charge standard messaging and data fees. Please contact your wireless carrier for information about applicable rates and charges.
Speakyboo is not responsible for any fees charged by your wireless carrier in connection with SMS messages sent or received as part of this program.
6. Supported Carriers
Speakyboo's SMS program is supported by most major wireless carriers in the United States, including but not limited to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket Wireless, and Consumer Cellular. However, not all carriers are supported and coverage may vary.
If you do not receive an expected SMS message, please check that your carrier supports our messaging program and that you have not blocked short code or toll-free number messages. You may contact support@speakyboo.com for assistance.
International carrier support varies. If you are located outside the United States, SMS delivery is not guaranteed and message costs may differ significantly.
7. Help Instructions
If you need assistance with our SMS program at any time, reply HELP to any message you receive from us. We will respond with contact information and a brief description of the program.

8. Sender Information and Short Code
SMS messages from Speakyboo are sent from a dedicated sender number or short code operated by or on behalf of Speakyboo, Inc. The specific sending number or short code will be identified in the messages you receive. Speakyboo may update the sending number or short code at any time; if this occurs, we will notify you by email.
You should not reply to SMS messages with sensitive personal information such as passwords, payment card numbers, or Social Security numbers. Speakyboo will never ask for this information by text message.
9. Privacy and Data Sharing
Your mobile phone number is treated as personal information subject to our Privacy Policy, available at speakyboo.com/policies/privacy. We will never sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. We may share your mobile number with our SMS delivery service provider solely for the purpose of delivering messages on our behalf. Any such provider is contractually prohibited from using your number for any other purpose.
We do not share phone numbers between Speakyboo and any affiliated entity for cross-promotional SMS campaigns.
10. TCPA Compliance
Speakyboo's SMS program is designed to comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), 47 U.S.C. § 227, and the regulations promulgated thereunder by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as applicable state laws governing text message marketing and communications.
Because our program is strictly transactional in nature — limited to messages that are functionally necessary to deliver the Service or manage your account — it falls within categories of communication that do not require prior express written consent under the TCPA. Nonetheless, we require affirmative opt-in consent before sending any SMS messages, and we honor opt-out requests promptly and without condition.
If you believe you have received a text message from Speakyboo in error or in violation of this policy, please contact us immediately at privacy@speakyboo.com. We take TCPA compliance seriously and will investigate all reports promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this SMS Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the SMS program after we post changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree to the changes, you may opt out of SMS communications at any time using the methods described in Section 3.
